Resuscitation Cubicles (RESUS) and Behavioural Assessment Unit (BAU) Consultant

The main responsibility of the Resus Consultant is to look after the new resus cubicles, critically unwell patients and high acuity mental health patients who need care in the Behavioural Assessment Rooms (BAR) or BAU.

Role Details:

  • Oversees resus spaces and BAU/BAR areas.
  • Supervises the resus/BAU JMS team and provides leadership to the resus team
  • The Resus Consultant will liaise with Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and retrieval services and handover care to Acute Adult or SSU teams once the patient’s care is stepped down.
  • The resus team will attend the Emergency response buzzer.
  • Attend/Lead BOC calls and provide response for section 351 patients who present to the BAR spaces.
  • Liaise with the mental health and allied health teams regarding medical consultation, clearance and plans for patients in BAU/Resus areas.
