The Western Health EMR Phase 2.1 project will Go-Live in July 2023, bringing a new system for the Emergency Department (FirstNet) and changing the way we deliver Best Care at our EMR sites. It is an exciting time for the organisation, with the EMR expansion the result of many years of input and planning from clinicians and administration staff across Western Health to ensure it meets our high standards of patient safety and care.

As preparations for the EMR Phase 2.1 Go-Live continue, the Digital Health Team are visiting Western Health Emergency Departments to discuss training opportunities. These visits commenced in February, and involve the Digital Health Team visiting the Emergency Departments to answer questions from staff about the EMR, provide assistance with signing up for WeLearn packages and Super User training, or answer general EMR queries.

The Western Health EMR Phase 2.1 project will Go-Live in July 2023, bringing a new system for the Emergency Department (FirstNet) and changing the way we deliver Best Care at our EMR sites. A number of new features will be introduced as part of this project, which will help not only staff that work in Emergency Medicine and Access, but also those across the hospital.

The MHAOD Outreach Service will be accepting referrals from this Monday the 13th February. It is a multi-disciplinary team that engages with patients that have been discharged home from SHED that have mental health (MH) and/or alcohol and other drug (AOD) care needs. During the first phase we will provide support for up to 28 days after ED discharge via telehealth and move to face-to-face support in later stages as the service expands.
