Joseph Epstein Centre for Emergency Medicine Research.
Research and innovation are essential for understanding patients and their illness and improving quality of care. This is not just traditional ‘medical’ research but research, audit and innovation across all the disciplines that form the ED team.
Research, audit and innovation projects within the Department of Emergency Medicine (cross campus) are co-ordinated by the Research, Audit and Innovation Working Group. The current Chair is Professor Anne-Maree Kelly. Professor Kelly recently represented Western Health and the Joseph Epstein Centre at the 30th Annual Medico Legal Congress in March 2021. Western Health ED has a proud track record of research and innovation and is considered a world leader. In the menu you will find some of the latest research projects involving the Western Health Emergency Departments.
The Joseph Epstein Centre for Emergency Medicine Research undertakes or co-ordinates most of the ED’s research projects. Part of its role is collaboration with internal and external researchers to conduct high impact clinical research to inform or change practice. It also supports ED team members undertaking research for a higher degree as well as medical student research projects.
