Overview

Acute Behavioural Disturbance is behaviour that puts the patient/others at immediate risk of serious harm.  Pharmacological Management is initiated after exhausting Non Pharmacological Management.

Why is this important

Immediate action to de-escalate verbally is imperative and if this isn’t successful, pharmacologic intervention must be employed to reduce their behaviour which can cause serious distress, harm, injury or even death to the patient or others.
