The recognisED – 500

December 08, 2021

The recognisED initiative – aimed to provide a forum and tool for all WH ED staff to recognise the valuable contribution of their colleagues every day.

The ED leadership team, set a goal of recording 500 recognisED nominations in 2021.

We are currently at 404 – and we are encouraging all staff to recognise a colleague by years end.

A reminder about the recognisED program:

In mid-2020 we distributed a survey to all staff of the Western Health Emergency Departments, asking them to identify and explain the traits they valued most in a colleague. We received one hundred and twenty responses in total. The results of the survey allowed us to develop the recognisED peer to peer recognition program. The results were surprisingly clear cut with four traits standing above the rest.

They are;

  • Team Player
  • Critical Thinker
  • Approachable
  • Effective Communicator.

Additionally, many of the traits represented in the Western Health CARES (Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence and Safety) were communicated through the survey.

So how does this work? It’s simple just follow the below process:

  1. Simply click the link below to access the recognisED submission form.
  2. Please enter yours and the colleague you are recognising’s full name.
  3. Select the trait you want to recognise them for displaying/living.
  4. Provide a short statement detailing why you appreciate working with them, and the impact they have on the team or our patients.

Once submitted the feedback will display on a site based feed. In the coming weeks we will organise for this feed to be displayed in the common areas of each department.

We need your help to achieve our goal of recording a 500 incidents of peer to peer recognition across all three sites in 2021.
