On the day after the EDIS outage, Jen spent her entire shift going through all the discharged patients paperwork and entering all of the required information on EDIS. I remember he endeavoured to find what his colleagues required on the directory by asking many of us at work. The final product is reflective of this. For all the staff involved in the care of the major trauma patient brought to the department – it isn’t something the department sees often, but you did a great job as a team. Everyone was focused on what needed to be done, and did their role well, even though it was an unfamiliar and intimidating situation. Thank you to those who stepped up to the challenge, and to those who supported them doing so. Thank you to those who may have been away from the centre of what was happening but did important tasks like getting blood and finding equipment. Thank you as well to those who kept the rest of the department running in the meantime. That was teamwork, and although the patient will have a difficult course, I think we kept him as safe as possible through the Emergency part of his journey.

Fantastic team who leapt straight into action when faced with every clinician's worst nightmare patient: asthmatic cardiac arrest with no prewarning. You were all fluid and resilient and I was incredibly proud and grateful to lead a team of such amazing people who work so well together in the face of a challenging situation. Particular mention to resus nurse Rebecca who bagged the patient for 2.5 hours solid as he was initially impossible to transition to the ventilator. This patient was extremely unwell but will have had the best possible chance at a good outcome because of all of your care. What you all do matters. Thank you.

Sharyn has incredible clinical acumen - its wonderful having her on triage / in resus. Today she spot diagnosed a STEMI from triage and drove a full workup within 10 mins, interpreted the complex ECG expertly and continued management in resus, guiding the other resus nurses with calm and educational manner. Patient left for cath lab within 30 mins of arrival, no mean feat for a walk-in STEMI!

Alexis always remains calm even when the department is chaos. She is always approachable and will go out of her way to help others despite always being extremely busy. As soon as we got a call from CT to say that the patient had an aortic dissection, Sheri was on the phone to ARV and arranging transport. At the same time Sam was Hub and Spoke-ing the images across and recording a video of the pathology to send to the Vascular team. The patient was out of the department and on her way to the most appropriate destination within 3 hours of arrival due to their clinical acumen and amazing teamwork

I attended the department as a patient a little while back for something quite minor. It was a Saturday night. I can think of many places everyone would have rather been. The clerk at triage was Alex and he was so friendly and upbeat. We have crossed paths in the hallways since and every interaction with him is polite and friendly. He is a ray of sunshine to the team :)
