This document is a summarised version of Emergency Department DP_GC7-WestCASA (Centre Against Sexual Assault), Paths of Travel – SHED QRG, WestCASA – SHED QRG and Emergency Procedures Manual. The summary has been created to combine best practice information into one document specific to the Emergency Department, and has been endorsed by the ED Leadership Team. Staff should review the QRG’s if they require further information.
Overview:
This Quick Reference Guide (QRG) provides a snapshot of the Doortop Alarms (DTA) within the SHED and the function they provide in the WestCASA, BAU/BAR and The Hub areas.
Applicability:
This QRG applies to any staff member who works in the WestCASA, BAU, BAR/The Hub areas, Security staff and Emergency buzzer responders.
Responsibility:
The Operations Manager of SHED, Medical Directors and Nurse Unit Managers of the SHED are responsible for ensuring all ED staff are aware of the content within this QRG.

**Please note all clinical areas within The Hub, BAU/BAR, and WestCASA are anti-ligature where possible.
Doortop alarm activation process
Anti-ligature DTA are located in the SHED WestCASA, BAU/BAR and The Hub areas. The DTA activate when weight/pressure is applied to the top of the door. DTA and alarm tones differ from other nurse call tones. Table 1 outlines the DTA process and response team.
